Each year after the summer solstice, red and white striped tents start popping up along highways with huge signs and hand-painted letters: FIREWORKS!
In Sand Springs, there are several spots to shop full of shelves stacked high with bottle rockets, fountains, mortar kits, and roman candles, plus novelty items like foil-wrapped sparklers and sodium bicarbonate snakes.
Whether your family does a few sparklers in the driveway at dusk or buys the $500 pack of fireworks and has a huge celebration with friends on the lake, here’s where to shop for your Independence Day supplies around town:
TNT
Located at 308 S. 209th West Ave., Sand Springs, OK 74063
A tent bedecked with American flags and TNT flags on a gravel lot. Over a dozen tables are full of all types of fireworks and fireworks packages. The tent is operated in partnership with Queensferry Renaissance Festival, so you may be treated to some live Scottish jams when you stop by, too. The stand operators say, “Be sure to ask about the King’s Special!”
Jake’s Fireworks
Located at 6636 SH-97 S., Sapulpa, OK 74066
Open every day from 9AM to 9PM, Sandites can find a variety of fireworks here. Some of the biggest sellers are the Family Packs, like The Biggen and Encore Presentation, and the finales like America’s Glory and Rolling Thunder. Coupons are available on the Jake’s Fireworks website.
Big Blast Fireworks
Located at 17516 W. 8th St., Sand Springs, OK 74063
There are fifteen Big Blast Fireworks locations throughout the region, but its Sand Springs location is an indoor superstore with plenty of A/C and lots of red, white, and blue decor. Friendly salespeople are available to help you make your selection (there’s lots to choose from!) and a 10% discount is available for all military, police, and fire personnel. Proceeds benefit local youth ministries in Sand Springs.
We wish you all a fun and safe 4th of July, and we invite you to tag We Are Sand Springs in your firework pictures on Facebook and Instagram!
