To the Community of Sand Springs:

Over the past decade, your town has transformed from a small Tulsa suburb to an epicenter of growth and development. Sand Springs is a shining star in Northeast Oklahoma, and it’s always a pleasure to visit your mom-and-pop shops, scenic parks, and family-friendly events.

Since 2012, more than 10,000 new residents have decided to call Sand Springs home. More people mean more sales tax dollars, which translates to better schools, infrastructure, and opportunities.

To get people to move to Oklahoma, we first need to get them here. Tourism is a major economic driver for our state, and that’s not just because it’s our third largest industry. When out-of-state visitors see the opportunities Oklahoma offers, they want to stay. More than 27,000 Americans have moved to Oklahoma from other states since April 2020, and the number continues to grow.

We are blessed to live in Oklahoma, a state with back roads and blue skies for days. From our indigenous founders to the pioneering history in the western prairie, from our uniquely diverse ecology to more miles of Route 66 than any other state, there’s history and heritage across our 77 counties.

Visitors love what Sand Springs has to offer, and you have done a great job promoting your town’s tourism draws. Out-of-state and international tourists frequent your stretch of the Mother Road. Keystone State Park attracts more than 350,000 visitors a year. The Sand Springs Herbal Affair Festival is the most popular herbal festival in the state and attracts over 25,000 people.

It is important we continue playing to our strengths. When we invest in tourism, we’re also investing in the economic development that comes with it. By shopping small and enjoying all the best local gems your community has to offer, you’re making your community and our state a better place.
