Sand Springs, Oklahoma’s own Sweetie Pie’s Bakery and Deli provided a great recipe for their delicious banana nut bread. If you have not been to Sweetie Pies you need to make a point to go try this amazing local bakery and deli. We asked Robin Porter, the owner of Sweetie Pies, to share one of her favorite Fall recipes with us and she so kindly agreed.
What Robin had to say about this recipe, “This is one of my favorite recipes for the fal. Fall is my favorite season of the year. With cool, crisp mornings and warm afternoons. The leaves changing colors and falling. The pleasant smells coming from my kitchen. My grand kids love to cook with me and this recipe is so easy, as well as, delicious they help me make it”.
Sweetie Pies’ Banana Nut Bread Recipe
2 sticks of butter, melted
5 over- ripe bananas
2 1/2 cups of sugar
3/4 cup buttermilk
3 cups of flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
In a large bowl place butter, bananas, sugar, and mash well. A potato masher works well for this part. Add eggs and mix well. Add buttermilk and vanilla.
In a separate bowl place the flour, baking soda and salt. Mix all ingredients well with a fork. Add one cup of flour at a time to the wet ingredients and blend well with a whisk until all the flour is incorporated.
This recipe make two loaves. Pour batter in to a well greased loaf pan. Do not fill to the top as the batter will rise.
Bake at 325 degrees for 70 to 80 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Optional: You can add 1 cup of walnuts or chocolate chips to the batter! Yum!
We were able to meet a few of the Grand Kids! Check out this video of the sweet family at Sweetie Pies.
