Sand Springs Residents: Register your safe room!

Sand Springs, OK (April 15, 2014) – With tornado season here, many Oklahomans are getting prepared before the storms hit by making sure they have a safe place to go in case of severe weather.
Being underground or in a safe room is the best place to be during a tornado, but what happens if one hits and you’re left trapped by debris? To avoid that, city officials said it’s a good idea to register your safe room or storm shelter.
Registering your safe room with the
City of Sand Springs is as easy as 1-2-3.
Go to the City’s website at Click on the “Departments” tab, then “Police.”
On the left side of the Police page, click on “Emergency Management” and then click on the “register your storm shelter” link found in the text.
Complete the requested information and submit the form electronically.
Registering your safe room or storm shelter with the City is important. Should a tornado strike Sand Springs, rescuers will know to check specific properties to assure occupants in a safe room or storm shelter are safe and can safely exit the enclosure.
